Harris joined the Department of African American Studies in September 2019 directly after earning his Ph.D. in Politics and Historical Studies from The New School for Social Research. His research centers on Black political thought, Black Culture, Black Critical Theory and Black Social movements.

His forthcoming book, To Build a Black Future: Blackness and Social Movement in the Time of #BlackLivesMatter, is expected to be published in the Spring of 2022 by Princeton University Press. It draws from his award-winning dissertation, which won the Hannah Arendt Prize in Politics at the New School for Social Research.

Harris will complete his two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship this summer.
