PhD Student Charlene Carruthers Directs New Film

We are happy to celebrate the directorial debut of Black Studies PhD Student Charlene Carruthers. Her film The Funnel follows Trina (Cat Christmas), a young Black poet living on the South Side of Chicago, as she navigates an escalating housing crisis with her mother. It has been screened in multiple cities and film festivals, including in Chicago, New York, and London. Congratulations Charlene!
